Before your first private wedding dance lesson with Let's Dance, we'll always ask you to send us your song. It might seem like a small administrative step, but it's actually one of the most important parts of the whole process. Here's why.

Your wedding song isn't just a piece of music. It's the blueprint for your entire first dance. Its tempo determines which dance styles are possible. Its structure tells us where the choreography should begin, where it should build, and where it should end. Its emotional quality guides the kind of movements, hold, and expression that will feel right.

When we hear your song before your lesson, we arrive prepared. We've already identified the rhythm, the phrasing, and the natural choreographic arc. Instead of spending the first twenty minutes of your lesson working all this out from scratch, we can dive straight into movement.

That's more time dancing and less time planning, which is exactly what you want.

We Identify the Dance Style for You

One of the most common questions couples ask is which dance style suits their song. When we've listened to your music beforehand, we can answer this question confidently at the very start of your first lesson.

For most songs, the answer will be the Rumba. It suits the vast majority of contemporary love songs with its beautiful slow rhythm and expressive character. For others, a Bolero, Cha Cha, Salsa, or Merengue might suit better. Occasionally, a song has such a unique feel that we might explore Zouk Lambada or Forro as options.

Arriving at your lesson already knowing the answer to this question means you can start learning steps immediately, which is enormously satisfying.

We Can Prepare for Any Challenges

Some songs have tricky structures, an unusual tempo change, a breakdown section, a very long intro, or a bridge that doesn't quite flow into the chorus. When we've listened in advance, we can identify these moments and have solutions ready. We might suggest a song edit, a choreographic bridge, or a particular way of managing that moment so it becomes a feature rather than a stumbling block.
